Mercedes Baliarda is an Argentinian artist who lives and works in Buenos Aires. Baliarda received her MA Fine Art, Chelsea College of Art & Design, London, 2008-2009. Her work can be found in the TATE collection, Selfridges Collection, University of The Arts Collection, Modern British Collections at the British Library, UK, Artists’ Books Collection at Chelsea College of Art & Design Library, London, UK and private collections in UK, Singapore and Argentina. Baliarda’s work is exquisitely technical, delicate and detailed. Finding inspiration form the natural world, Baliarda collects and presses flowers and then draws them onto tracing paper. The artist then layers the paper, approximately 15-20 layers to create the image of the faces.
