MotaZol is a prescription ear medication for dogs or cats that treats otitis externa, outer ear infection, caused by yeast and bacteria. MotaZol contains gentamicin, mometasone, and clotrimazole - an antibiotic, an anti-inflammatory steroid, and an antifungal. MotaZol works by killing infection causing bacteria and yeast in the ear and reducing the swelling and redness often associated with ear infections. MotaZol may also be used to treat superficial skin infections. If your dog or cat has been diagnosed with otitis externa or an ear infection, your veterinarian may prescribe a suspension such as MotaZol. MotaZol kills the yeast and bacteria causing the infection and has a steroid to treat swelling and redness.
