Past Event: TCL Kensington Pop Up Exhibition

TCL Pop up Gallery & Shop took place at the old Wodka restaurant at 12 St Albans Grove, London W8 5PN from Friday 16th December – Saturday 24th December 2011. Our opening preview drinks event on Thursday 15th December was a resounding success, attended by the participating artists, family and friends of The Contemporary London and a very welcome opportunity to catch up with everyone before the Christmas break.

We exhibited a selection of works by the brilliantly talented Vasilis Avramidis, Greg Eason, Jess Littlewood, Ernesto Canovas, Sandra Erbacher, Margo Trushina, Mercedes Bailarda, Rory McCartney, Jessica Nina Mello, Benjamin Buckley, Kiera Blakey, Julia Bailey, Robin Seir and Patrick Milsom. We showed a selection of original works, including paintings, sculpture, drawings, and collage, as well as limited edition Giclee and screen prints.

On exhibition was OK by Vasilis Avramidis, the newest addition to The Contemporary London team! We had a wall of original works by Greg Eason, including six new and exclusive works and the unveiling of his new Nanosquare project. The first series in the nanosquare project was so successful that we sold most on the first evening. Jess Littlewood included her ever impressive panorama Belief Playground II alongside brilliant new additions to The End series. Ernesto Canovas’ ever impressive work included a new piece Relaxing Hand. Sandra Erbacher’s collection of works created a playful explosion of colour on another wall and was complimented by Jessia Nina Mellos scientific textbook orignal prints. Mercedes Bailarda’s ghostly and ephemeral flower works were show next to her newer flower collages creating a quietly elegant corner of the space. Rory McCartney’s What Good is Up was exhibited alongside the amazing new work Zoning. Robin Seir included Floor Play a metal sculptural piece and photographic works Untitled II and Untitled IV. These photographic works, belonging to a series derive from the empty spaces between Frank Stella’s paintings from the Haunch of Venison’s Frank Stella Retrospective Exhibition 2011. Julia Bailey exhibited her surreal dreamlike black porcelain sculptures complimented by her popular handmade jewellery. Another new addition to The Contemporary London, the talented Patrick Milsom exhibited amazing black and white works.

Our Limited Edition Box Sets and Limited Edition artist T shirts proved to be popular Christmas gifts. All our works exhibited were exclusive to us and started from as little as £10.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the event and thank you to John for letting us borrow the amazing space. We hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and we wish you all a fantastic 2012.
